Animal Forest (Dōbutsu no Mori)
Japanese Title: Dōbutsu no Mori (どうぶつの森) Animal Forest (Dōbutsu no Mori) was released exclusivly in Japan, in April 2001 after it's planned release on the Nintendo 64DD was delayed. It was therefore released on the Nintendo 64. Data was stored on a controller pak, and the game could be purchased with or without an additional controller pak. Cartridge and controller pak sets cost 1000 more Yen then the standalone cartridge. During it's first week of sale, Aniaml Forest sold 36,263 copies. A second version of Animal Forest was released later for the GameCube, Dōbutsu no Mori Plus. Plus had many more features than the original and also used the GameCube's internal clock to control the time in the game. Originally, in the Nintendo 64 version, the time had to be entered each time the game was played. A third version of Animal Forest was released in 2003 after the release of Animal Crossing in America and Europe. Nintendo Japan had liked Nintendo America's translation of the original Animal Forest Plus so much, they translated it back and released it as Dōbutsu no Mori e-Plus. The game's slogan "It's playing, even when you're not," was added when the Plus version was released.
